Mac and Cheese

Nothing is more comforting than a creamy mac and cheese!
This recipe can be chopped and changed to fit anybody's preferences! Add some crispy bacon, or a handful of cooked mushrooms for some extra flavour!

 150 g macaroni
 60 g low fat cheddar
 1 tsp garlic powder
 0.50 tsp onion powder
 0.50 tsp black pepper
 30 g low fat spread / butter alternative
 15 g plain flour
 200 ml semi-skimmed milk

Bring a large pot of salted water to the boil and add your pasta. Cook until al-dente (approximately 12 minutes)

Grate all the cheeses.

While your pasta is cooking, let's make the sauce.

Add the butter to a pot and heat over medium. Once melted add the flour and seasonings, and mix until combined (it should form a sort of paste). Cook the flour mixture for about 2 minutes.

Start to slowly adding in the milk while continuously stirring, it will begin to thicken.

Add the grated cheese slowly into the sauce and mix until all combined.

Drain the cooked pasta and add into the sauce, mix well and enjoy!
